About this site
Mae Haad sits on the northwest coast of Koh Phangan, where a sandbar connects the main island to the small islet of Koh Ma. The shallow channel and rocky shoreline around this spot are a common entry point for snorkeling and diving trips based out of the nearby beach town. The site tops out at around 12 metres and is rated a beginner dive, making it accessible for those new to the water. Divers have also reported clownfish, grouper, and seahorses around the rocks here, along with sightings of banded sea urchins, blackblotched porcupinefish, blue ring angelfish, Hong Kong butterflyfish, pastel-green wrasse, and pillow cushion stars.
