About this site
Manta Cove lies off the coast of Atauro Island, in the Wetar Strait north of Dili, Timor-Leste, where the shoreline drops into the deep waters separating the island from the Timor mainland and small coastal villages provide boat access to nearby dive spots. It is a shallow site, with a maximum depth of around 12 metres, rated as a beginner dive with generally great visibility. Manta rays are a regular sighting here, giving the site its name, and divers have also reported occasional strong currents moving through the cove.
