About this site
Maqna is a coastal town on the Gulf of Aqaba in the Tabuk region of northwestern Saudi Arabia, near the Egyptian and Jordanian borders, and the dive site here is a wreck sitting on a wreck bottom in a maximum depth of around 32 metres, rated an intermediate dive. Divers have reported lionfish around the structure, and the wreck carries some real hazards worth noting: bullet holes and live shells from its history, sharp metal edges throughout the hull, sea urchins nearby, and tight spots inside that carry a penetration risk. Anyone entering the interior should be mindful of the sharp, jagged metal pieces and the confined spaces involved.
