About this site
Mermaid Rock (マーメイドロック) is a boat-dive wall off Yoron Island in Kagoshima Prefecture, about 6 minutes from Tomori harbour, with weak to moderate current. Despite the name the topography is rugged, with an offshore pinnacle and a steep drop-off. Nudibranchs are varied, scorpionfish are so common the site is also called Okoze Ne, and schools of anthias, butterflyfish and bigeye trevally are typical.
