About this site
Mesi Reef lies off Makronisos Island, a narrow islet along the coast of the Lavreotiki municipality in southeast Attica, near the town of Lavrio. This stretch of the Aegean between the Attic mainland and the island of Kea sees regular boat traffic from local dive operators based around Lavrio. Divers here have reported comber, dusky spinefoot, European parrotfish, Mediterranean rainbow wrasse, ornate wrasse, painted comber, and rivulated rabbitfish around the reef.
