About this site
Mifuga (ミーフガー) is one of the few shore-entry sites on Kume Island, Okinawa, with a maximum depth of 30 m and an average around 12 m. A short, careful walk leads to an easy entry, and the shallows on the way out hold many damselfish, anthias and juvenile wrasse before a drop-off that falls to 35 m; crevasses and arches let in beams of light. Napoleon wrasse, giant trevally and great barracuda are seen at times, and manta rays come in on the morning flood tide, drawn by feed overflowing from a neighbouring prawn farm. Suitable from beginner level and used for all levels of training.
