About this site
Makronisos is a narrow island off the tip of the Lavreotiki peninsula in southeast Attica, separated from the mainland near Lavrio by a strait used by local boat traffic. The island's coastline is rocky and largely undeveloped, shaped by the same mineral-rich geology as the nearby Lavrio mining district.
