Punta Negra

Punta Negra sits along the Caribbean coastline of Cancun on the Yucatan Peninsula, in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, within the broader reef system running along the Quintana Roo coast. The site is a reef dive to a maximum depth of around 17 metres, rated beginner though current can run to medium, and dive outings typically launch from Cancun's hotel zone. Nurse sharks and sea turtles are regularly found here, and divers have also reported angelfish, barracuda, damselfish, moray eels, lobster, snapper, stingrays, eagle rays, reef sharks, and even bull sharks on the reef. Some sources note that open water conditions can make the diving here more challenging at times.
