About this site
Rubble Pile sits in the waters off Palmyra Atoll, part of the Northern Line Islands in the central Pacific, roughly 1,600 kilometres south of Hawaii. The atoll is administered as a US National Wildlife Refuge, and access to its surrounding waters is largely restricted to research and conservation groups rather than commercial dive operators. Divers who have surveyed this site have reported bicolor chromis, bird wrasse, fivestripe wrasse, Pacific bullethead parrotfish, whitecheek surgeonfish, and two-spot red snapper, along with plate and pillar coral formations on the bottom.
