About this site
Sakune Nishi (サクネ西) is a boat-dive site off Enoshima on the Shonan coast of Kanagawa, with a maximum depth of 21 m and an average around 10 m, intermediate and above. The reef rises from a 21 m bottom to within 0.5 m of the surface; the west side is a large overhang with a ceiling thick with soft coral, and the centre is a canyon with caves that let in shafts of light. Sakura anthias, anthias, damselfish and large sweepers school in the canyon, giant sea stars over 1 m occur, and longtooth grouper of 1.5 m and sharks rest in the caves and under the overhang while eagle rays settle in the open areas.
