About this site
Maeshima (マエシマ) is a site off Enoshima on the Shonan coast of Kanagawa that can be dived by boat or entered from the rocky shore, with a maximum depth of 16 m, for advanced divers. It is used mainly for night diving. The south side of the island is cut by numerous cracks that can be followed in a loop, with colourful warm-water species such as bannerfish and butterflyfish, and at night large spiny lobster and painted rock lobster emerge from the fissures along with plentiful other crustaceans.
