About this site
Sanctuary is one of the dive sites within the marine protected area off Apo Island, a small volcanic island off Dauin on the southeast coast of Negros Oriental in the Visayas. Apo Island's reefs sit within a long-established community-managed marine sanctuary, one of the earlier examples of local marine conservation in the Philippines. The site reaches a maximum depth of around 20 metres and is rated a beginner dive, typically reached by short boat trips from Dauin or nearby Zamboanguita. Divers here have reported nudibranchs, pipefish, and pygmy seahorses among the reef life.
