About this site
Katipanan is a dive site off Apo Island, a small volcanic island in the Bohol Sea near Dauin on the southeast coast of Negros Oriental in the Visayas. The island sits within a long-established marine sanctuary and is reached by boat from Dauin or the town of Zamboanguita on the Negros mainland. The site sits over a reef bottom to a maximum depth of around 18 metres and is rated a beginner dive, though divers have reported medium currents at times. Macro life features heavily here, with sightings of frogfish, ghost pipefish, pipefish, leaf scorpionfish, rhinopias, garden eels, and nudibranchs, alongside larger visitors like sea turtles, barracuda, and tuna.
