Sand Island is a beginner reef dive on the upper Florida Keys reef tract, listed among the Key Largo dive sites. It lies in 20-50 feet (6 to 15 metres) of water, over patch reef and sand channels with gentle dive profiles.
Conditions are easy and suit relaxed exploration, and marine life is reliable. Southern stingrays, snappers, grunts and filefish are the animals most often seen.
