Sankyo

Sankyo (三競) is a boat site 3 minutes from Kumomi on the west coast of the Izu Peninsula, Shizuoka. Exposed to the tide, it has relatively stable visibility and a good chance of pelagics, plus an underwater cave sheltering large spiny lobster and a hidden reef 30 m long and 12 m high that dives like a wall; maximum depth 18 m, average around 12 m, from novice level, with current depending on the season. It can be combined with the adjoining Collins Point cave in a single dive, and when the current runs strong a drift towards Ushitsuki Iwa is possible. Spotted knifejaw, striped beakfish, jacks, anthias, Japanese bullhead sharks, round herring and lionfish are typical.
