About this site
Santa Catarina lies off Terceira Island in the Azores archipelago, part of Portugal's mid-Atlantic territory. Terceira's coastline is volcanic in origin, and this wall site is typically reached by boat from ports such as Angra do Heroismo or Praia da Vitoria. It drops to a maximum depth of around 40 metres and is rated an advanced dive, with divers having reported strong currents along the wall. Barracuda and grouper have also been spotted here.
