Steve's Bommie

Steve's Bommie sits among the Ribbon Reefs off far north Queensland, Australia, typically reached by liveaboard out of Cairns or Port Douglas. It is a coral pinnacle rising from the seabed toward the surface, a formation known in Australian reef diving as a bommie, with divers able to circle it from top to bottom on a single dive. The site reaches a maximum depth of around 25 metres and is rated an intermediate dive. The Ribbon Reefs sit near the edge of the continental shelf, which brings clearer offshore water and a chance of pelagic encounters compared to inshore Great Barrier Reef sites.
