About this site
Sumiyoshi Kaiganshita (住吉海岸下) is a shore-entry site on the Sumiyoshi coast of Tanegashima in Kagoshima Prefecture, with a maximum depth of 6 m. A wall of wave-breaking blocks stands about 30 m offshore and the dive circles slowly around it. Spiny lobster, surgeonfish, chicken grunt, yellowfin goatfish and largescale blackfish hide in the blocks, large sweepers school at the tip, and from autumn barracuda move in and form swirling schools. Suitable from beginner level.
