About this site
Susami Maejima (すさみ 前島) is a boat dive at Susami on the Kii Peninsula in Wakayama, three minutes from the harbour, with a maximum depth of 30 m and an average around 15 m. Despite its closeness to port the terrain is steep and the site runs deep. Schools of surgeonfish are common, and as the water cools boarfish take up residence and sea turtle encounters become more likely, with chicken grunt, opaleye, leopard coral grouper and semicircle angelfish also present. No current, suitable from beginner level.
