About this site
Tajma Ha is a cenote system in the Yucatan Peninsula, in the cenote-rich area of Quintana Roo inland from the Riviera Maya coast. Like other cenotes in this limestone region, it connects to the vast underground river network that runs through the Yucatan. Diving here reaches a maximum depth of about 14.9 metres over a cave floor, rated beginner, with visibility generally described as great. It's an overhead environment throughout, and divers have noted an uneven up and down profile through the passages, along with haloclines and patches of tannic acid staining the water. Some areas have brittle roof sections and fragile formations, and percolation from the ceiling can reduce visibility if disturbed.
