About this site
Special Point (スペシャルポイント) is a drift-only site for advanced divers at Tatsukushi in Tosashimizu, Kochi Prefecture, with a free descent and ascent in open water and a maximum depth of 40 m. The reef top at 17 m is only a few metres across and falls away as a cone to 40 m, with a large arch near 35 m. Opaleye and chicken grunt school around 20 m, yellowtail, amberjack and rainbow runner are regulars, and manta rays and whale sharks have been sighted. Currents are complex, so a surface marker buoy is required.
