About this site
The Tayleur was a large iron-hulled clipper ship that sank in January 1854 on her maiden voyage from Liverpool to Australia, running aground off Lambay Island near Dublin in poor weather with heavy loss of life. The wreck lies close to Ireland's Eye and Lambay Island on the Irish Sea coast of County Dublin, in the Leinster region. Little remains of the original structure after more than a century and a half of exposure and salvage, and the site is more valued for its history than for an intact hull.
