About this site
The Cave Cathedral sits off Gato Island, a small islet off the northern coast of Cebu in the Visayan Sea, reached by boat from the Malapascua area. The site is built around a wall dropping to about 30 metres, rated an intermediate dive, with overhead sections and overhead features that call for attention to swell and variable conditions. Divers have reported eagle rays, lobster, moray eels, octopus, and reef sharks around the formation. Gato Island as a whole is known for its swim-through tunnel, and sites around it, including this one, take their cave and cathedral names from the rock formations cut into the islet.
