The Drop Off

The Drop Off sits among the Ko Ha Yai group of islets off Krabi in the Andaman Sea, reached by boat from the Krabi or Phi Phi coastline. These outlying granite islets have steep underwater terrain, and this site is a wall dive rated intermediate. Divers have reported a wide range of reef fish along the drop, including fusiliers, grouper, snapper, checkerboard wrasse, redlip parrotfish, striped surgeonfish and red-tailed and lined butterflyfish, along with blackspotted puffers and titan triggerfish. Giant moray have also been spotted tucked into the wall, and blue linckia sea stars turn up on the rock. The terrain moves from shallow rocky tops down into deeper water offshore, giving the wall its character.
