The Valley

Layang Layang is an isolated atoll in the South China Sea, off Sarawak in Malaysian Borneo, built up around a Malaysian naval base with a small dive resort. The Valley is one of the named sites along the atoll's outer drop-off, where the reef wall falls away into deep open water. Sites around Layang Layang are best known for pelagic encounters, including schooling hammerhead sharks in season, owing to the atoll's remote position far from the mainland. The Valley itself is rated an intermediate dive, and because of the exposed location and the depths involved along these walls, it suits divers with some open water and drift experience.
