Tulamben Drop Off

Tulamben Drop Off sits just along the coast from the USAT Liberty wreck on Bali's northeast shore, a wall dive entered from the black sand beach that drops from shallow water into deep blue. The wall bottoms out to a maximum depth of around 50 metres, and while the upper sections suit divers following the reef down comfortably, the site as a whole is rated technical, with light current typically running along the wall. Octopus are a regular sighting here, and divers have also reported a wide range of macro and reef life along the drop, including nudibranchs, frogfish, ghost pipefish, harlequin shrimp, mantis shrimp, mimic octopus, scorpionfish, and lionfish, alongside bigger reef residents such as grouper, Napoleon wrasse, barracuda, reef sharks, and even mola mola passing in deeper water. It is often dived alongside the nearby Liberty wreck as part of the same shore-based outing, with the drop-off's steep profile rewarding those who take it slowly along the wall face.
