Turtles Creek

Turtles Creek lies along the coast near Maputo, the capital of Mozambique, where the shoreline faces the Indian Ocean along the Mozambique Channel. Dive operations in this area typically run out of small boats launching from the mainland beaches near the city. The site sits over a reef bottom to a maximum depth of about 21 metres and is rated a beginner dive. Divers have reported a wide range of reef fish here, including butterflyfish, blacklip butterflyfish, Allard's anemonefish, brown pygmy angelfish, dusky surgeonfish, three-spot dascyllus, wrasse, triggerfish, and scorpionfish, along with jacks and giant trevally. Larger animals have also been reported passing through, including loggerhead sea turtles, bull sharks, and even whale sharks.
