About this site
The USS Saratoga is a wreck in Bikini Atoll, in the Ṃajeḷ (Marshall Islands), sunk during the 1946 Operation Crossroads nuclear tests. The aircraft carrier settled upright on the lagoon floor and remains largely intact, with its flight deck, island superstructure, and aircraft still visible in the holds and on deck. Verified data puts the maximum depth at 50 metres, which places much of the wreck beyond recreational limits and makes it a dive generally suited to technical divers. Access is limited given the remoteness of Bikini Atoll, and trips there are typically run as dedicated liveaboard expeditions.
