About this site
USS Carlisle was a US Navy attack transport used as a target ship during the 1946 Operation Crossroads nuclear tests at Bikini Atoll and sunk in the Baker test. It now rests on the floor of the atoll's lagoon, one of several test-fleet wrecks that draw technical divers to the site. Bikini Atoll diving is generally reserved for experienced divers, given the depths involved and the remote logistics of reaching the lagoon.
