About this site
The Washing Machine is a set of small, interlocking canyons and swim-throughs at Verde Island, off Puerto Galera, that do not get much deeper than 15 metres. It can be dived in two ways, at slack water or on the ebb tide, when the current runs through the passages from several directions and meets itself.
The result is a surge that pulls divers one way and then the other. At slack water the site shows its diversity of coral and fish, including sea whips and fans that thrive in the current. A full wetsuit is advisable because of the odd scrape.
