About this site
Akasaki Ichiban (赤崎１番) is a boat dive off Ugurushima in Sukumo Bay, Kochi Prefecture, with a maximum depth of 25 m and an average around 10 m. It is suitable from beginner level with no current. Coral in the shallows gives way to a clean sand bottom with many shrimp gobies, and pygmy seahorses are found at around 20 m, with depths shallow enough for unhurried photography. Schooling amberjack, angelfish and dancing shrimp gobies are among the regular sightings, and the safety stop is made over the coral.
