About this site
Ara no Su (アラの巣) is the most distant shore-entry site at Tatsunokuchi in Amakusa, Kumamoto Prefecture, and both the swim and the depth of about 25 to 32 m make it a site for intermediate divers and above. Good water flow makes it the easiest place to see the schools of damselfish, anthias, amberjack and chicken grunt. The chain of reefs on the way out is covered in sea whips, sea fans, whip coral, soft coral and hard coral, home to whip coral shrimps, commensal shrimps, decorator crabs and many nudibranchs, so the site is rich year-round.
