About this site
Ware Iwa (割れ岩) is a shore-entry site at the tip of the lighthouse point at Tatsunokuchi in Amakusa, Kumamoto Prefecture, with depths of about 15 to 20 m and suitable from beginner level. Current runs constantly and fish life is dense. A reef extends seaward, and in strong flow the current can be used to push fish against the wall so they gather in schools. Because the current never stops it is also used for drift-diving practice.
