About this site
Hanasaki (鼻先) is a shore-entry site at Tatsunokuchi in Amakusa, Kumamoto Prefecture, with depths of about 8 to 15 m and suitable from beginner level, close to the entry area so not deep. Large rock outcrops are scattered seaward over a sand bottom, so fish can be observed and photographed looking upward. Water flow is good and damselfish, blackfish, spotted knifejaw and striped beakfish are common. From around June each year gobies settle at several spots nearby for photographers.
