About this site
Obikijima Shuhen (オオビキ島周辺) covers the dive sites scattered around Obikijima, an island with remnants of its coal-mining past about 50 minutes by boat from Sasebo in the Kujukushima area of Nagasaki Prefecture. Maximum depth is 35 m with an average around 10 m, and the sites are suitable from beginner level, though some of them can have current. Some spots are carpeted in coral and others are filled with schools of fish dense enough to block the view. Pelagics, sea turtles and eagle rays are seen year-round.
