Blue Lagoon

Blue Lagoon is a small bay on Bali's east coast near Padang Bai, close to the ferry port that connects to Lombok. The site sits within a sheltered cove that draws snorkelers and dive boats operating out of Padang Bai and Candidasa, with a sandy bottom reaching a maximum depth of around 23.5 metres. It is rated a beginner dive with light current and good visibility, well suited to macro-focused diving. Divers regularly find frogfish, ghost pipefish, seahorses, rhinopias, nudibranchs, and various scorpionfish and moray eels along the sand and reef, alongside angelfish, sweetlips, garden eels, and reef sharks, with occasional sea turtles passing through. Others have also reported crocodilefish, cuttlefish, mantis shrimp, blue-ringed octopus, and wobbegong sharks here, along with cold upwellings and the presence of camouflaged stonefish and scorpionfish that divers should watch for on the sand.
