About this site
Cirkewwa lies at the northwestern tip of Malta, near the ferry terminal for Gozo, and is one of the most popular shore diving areas on the island. The reef here reaches a maximum depth of around 35 metres over a reef bottom, and is rated a beginner dive, which fits the easy shore entry and generally sheltered conditions that make the area a common choice for dive schools and training groups. The site includes a network of shallow reef and swim-throughs, with the nearby Rozi wreck and Arch drawing both newer and more experienced divers exploring the surrounding coastline. Parrotfish are a regular sight on the reef, and divers have also reported barracuda, damselfish, grouper, nudibranchs, octopus, scorpionfish, seahorses, and wrasse around the area.
