P29

P29 lies off Cirkewwa on the northwest coast of Malta, near the ferry crossing to Gozo. It was a Maltese Navy patrol boat, originally an East German minesweeper, deliberately scuttled in 2007 to create an artificial reef and dive attraction. The wreck sits on a sandy bottom with a maximum depth of around 35 metres, and it is rated an advanced dive. Its intact structure of hull, deck features, and open compartments makes it popular for penetration and photography, and it lies close to other well known Cirkewwa sites, often combined with the nearby reef and cavern features in the same area. Divers here have also reported barracuda, damselfish, nudibranchs, scorpionfish, and squid around the wreck.
