About this site
Daikoku Ne (大黒根) is a boat-dive site about 3 minutes from the harbour at Izusan, Atami, on the east coast of the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka, with a maximum depth of 18 m and an average around 8 m, suitable from beginner level with no current. Sand surrounds a relatively small rock, and the shallow depth makes it comfortable for beginners, with the option of drifting on to Okine Higashi. Juveniles are plentiful, along with damselfish, hawkfish, angelfish, pinecone fish, dartfish, boxfish, butterflyfish and various nudibranchs.
