About this site
Izusan Okine (沖根) is a boat-dive site about 5 minutes out from Izusan, Atami, on the east coast of the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka, with a maximum depth of 20 m and an average around 12 m, suitable from beginner level with no current. The site is the southernmost buoy of the main offshore reef, where colourful soft coral contrasts with clean sand in a garden-like setting, and a drift on to Okine Higashi is possible. Flounder, stingrays, spiny lobster, cardinalfish, filefish, cup coral, butterflyfish, banded coral shrimp and anemones are typical.
