About this site
Izusan Okine Higashi (沖根東) is a boat-dive site about 4 minutes out from Izusan, Atami, on the east coast of the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka, with a maximum depth of 22 m and an average around 10 m, suitable from beginner level with no current. It is the main Izusan site, on the most seaward part of the offshore reef, so large pelagics and big schools pass close by, and the soft coral is the most colourful in the area. Cardinalfish, jack, damselfish, rockfish, decorator crabs, Ortmann's shrimp, moray eels, sweepers and wrasse are regular.
