About this site
Futatsune (フタツネ) is a shore-entry site on Hatsushima, the island off Atami in Shizuoka, with a maximum depth of 25 m, suitable from beginner level. It sits in front of the dive centre and is the island's main site, with separate one-way entry and exit slopes. Schools of silver-stripe round herring, amberjack and takabe appear right from the entry, Japanese bullhead sharks and longtooth grouper of around 1 m hide among the boulders, jawfish live in the shallow gravel, bigfin reef squid spawn in summer and large numbers of Pikachu nudibranchs gather in winter.
