About this site
Nishimato (ニシマト) is a shore-entry site on the far side of Hatsushima, the island off Atami in Shizuoka, reached by a 5-minute shuttle from the dive centre, with a maximum depth of 20 m and an entry slope, suitable from beginner level. The bottom slopes gently, with an anemone field holding anemonefish and juveniles, and spiny lobster under the ledges. An artificial reef of large tyres further out is packed with takabe, chicken grunt, jack, cardinalfish and anthias, and large flounder, rays, guitarfish and angel sharks rest on the sand.
