About this site
Yagura 2.5 (やぐら2.5) is a boat-entry site on Hatsushima, the island off Atami in Shizuoka, with a maximum depth of 25 m, intermediate and above, with current at times; the dive exits over the shore at Futatsune. The site is a steel artificial reef about 200 m offshore, long protected as a fishing ground, and has the densest fish life on the island. Eagle rays, yellowtail, sharks on the bottom and thick schools of takabe, chicken grunt, damselfish and anthias are the main attractions, but once current runs the swim becomes demanding and calls for higher skill and judgement. The site is open only from 1 July to 30 November.
