About this site
Marettimo is the westernmost of the Egadi Islands, off the northwest coast of Sicily in the province of Trapani, and its coastline is known for a series of caves and grottoes cut into steep limestone cliffs. Grotta Con Sifone lies along this shoreline, reachable by boat from the small harbor town on the island. The name points to a cave with a siphon passage, a submerged or partially submerged channel connecting sections of the cavern. Divers have also reported mauve stinger jellyfish drifting through the site.
