Marettimo is the westernmost of the Egadi Islands, off the coast of Trapani in Sicily, and its shoreline drops into the clear waters of a marine protected area known for underwater caves and rocky coastline. "Relitto" simply means wreck in Italian, and the waters around Marettimo hold several submerged wreck sites tied to the island's long history of Mediterranean shipping traffic. This particular wreck sits on a wreck bottom down to a maximum depth of around 34 metres and is rated an advanced dive. Divers have reported grouper, lobster, moray eel, scorpionfish, and triggerfish around the structure. Boat access from Marettimo's small harbor is typical for reaching dive sites around the island.
