About this site
Habugata (ハブガタ) is a shallow boat site two minutes out from Shirasaki, Yura, on the Kii Peninsula of Wakayama, with a maximum depth of 7 m and an average around 4–5 m. It is reserved for contracted dive shops and guided dives, and a fixed anchor block for the float means no anchor has to be carried; the depth suits everything from training to fun dives. Anemonefish, snake eels, cleaner shrimp, lionfish, seahorses, frogfish, harlequin shrimp, sea moths, guitarfish and nudibranchs are found; there is little current and the site is suitable from beginner level.
