About this site
Nagasaki (長崎) is a boat site 5 minutes from Hachijojima in the Izu Islands, Tokyo, where large reefs overlap in a layout worth seeing in itself. Its main draw is a school of boarfish that sits reliably in one spot at a fairly deep 26–30 m, sometimes more than 50 strong; maximum depth 30 m, average around 16 m, suitable from beginner level, with little current. Pelagics and turtles are also met often, and a surface marker must be sent up before ascending as the site lies on a fishing-boat route.
