About this site
Nazumado (ナズマド) is the signature site of Hachijojima in the Izu Islands, Tokyo, a shore entry with complex, fast currents and correspondingly dense fish life. It covers everything from pelagics such as dogtooth tuna, amberjack, rainbow runners, yellowtail amberjack, yellowfin tuna and bonito, sharks including hammerheads and pelagic threshers, Hachijo regulars such as wrought-iron butterflyfish, purplemask angelfish, Tosa angelfish and boarfish, down to harlequin shrimp and nudibranchs; maximum depth 40 m, average around 18 m, from beginner level but at times intermediate and above, with current that can be complex and fast. Because it can become a torrent, an orientation from a local professional is required, and the site is shared with many anglers.
