About this site
The Chisholm left Duluth towing the 220-ft. schooner John Martin on a run down the lakes. The weather worsened off the Keewenaw and the Martin was set loose while Chisholm found shelter. After the blow, while searching for her lost tow, the Chisholm ran onto Rock of Ages Reef and punctured her hull. The ship was pounded by weather before salvage could be effected. The wreckage of her hull is mingled with that of the Cumberland. Lies in about 18.3 m; sank 1898.
